Ohio Youth Development's mission is to empower youth to thrive as children and adults by providing youth with program opportunities that teach effective problem-solving and healthy-lifestyle skill-sets in a safe and supportive community youth service environment.
In 2013, Ohio Youth Development (formally Ohio Valley Youth Development) facilitated Summer Youth Program collaborating with Urban Mission in Steubenville and North 6th Street Church for its "An Apple a Day program". In 2015, Ohio Youth Development (OYD) facilitated Healthy Cooking for Kids held at Schiller Recreation Center.
Ohio Youth Development board of directors are cognizant that we have not had the community impact that we desire. Our funding deficiencies required founders to spend from their personal finances. Today we are fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with First Communities Property Management and other community agencies and businesses.
OYD's Diversity & Inclusion
We provide youth development skills to children from diverse backgrounds. Our staff/volunteers and external stakeholders must mirror our unique service needs. We believe diversity drives the creativity we seek from our youth participants. We seek to support an environment of diverse leadership. We are charged to keep the focus on all children deserving the opportunity to thrive and that it takes diverse staff/volunteers to provide those skill-building opportunities.
Our Vision as an Organization is to empower youths by teaching pro-social skill, and providing at-risk youth and their families to quality, affordable youth development activities, and to reduce crime that involves youths under than 18 in communities that we serve.
Meeting the challenges of protecting and developing tomorrow's leaders - today requires problem-solvers who bring unique approaches and are willing to take risks. Ohio Youth Development emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support youth in their communities, and a desire to give the opportunity to children from economically challenging families. for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2013, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.
